Happy Independence Day (to our American listeners, anyway; to everyone else, Happy July 4th)!

We decided to celebrate today by of course talking about Roland Emmerick’s 1996 classic independence Day! We talk about everything on this movie, and I do mean EVERYTHING. How it has endured in the culture, what has changed in the last 20 years as far as this type of effect extravaganza, and yes, even the film’s (and director’s) flaws. So sit back, grab some fireworks (do try not to blow yourself up), and let’s watch some explosions!
